UPDATE: A Rose By Any Other Name

Today I finally bit the bullet and took care of some name-changing business.  First stop, US Bank.  They took forever, and I had to bring my parents in so we could all sign a new signature card for the business.  Then, on to the DMV.  They did not take nearly as long, but were a bit curt.  What is the deal with that?  Everyone seems so unhappy at the DMV.  I did fix my hair and put on some make-up in an attempt at a decent photo.  My new permanent license should arrive in a week or so.  Up next, the credit cards.

UPDATE:  It's here!  And not a minute too late as many places do not accept the paper copy to purchase alcohol.  (not that that is regularly problem)

Better Home & Garden

Must regain control of our house!  We've decided, well I decided and he agreed, that we will use a weekly chore chart so nothing goes undone.

Seems doable, no?  Have I missed any weekly chores?  Perhaps I should add clutter-busting to the everyday chores.  And a thrift shop drop-off to happen weekly.  Or maybe a garage sale (not weekly of course)...hmmm?
And for the other chores that should occur less frequently, I think I will try adding them to my google calendar and having my phone send a reminder.  I just may become a domestic diva.

UPDATE: A Rose By Any Other Name

Got my new Social Security card with my new name.  Pretty exciting!!!  Oddly, I had never practiced my new signature until the card arrived; very hard to get used to.  Luckily my new last name has half as many letters as my maiden name.  That will be way easier to fit on those little credit card receipts.  Next step, DMV.  YUCK!  I also have jury duty later this month.  DOUBLE YUCK!!  Hey, will changing my name cancel my jury duty?  Must look into this.

Ain't No Other Man

Check out my special surprise for my groom!  Classic Tap Hip Hop Co. did a little diddy to one of his favorite songs.  Note:  Extremely difficult to dance in a wedding gown :(

A Rose By Any Other Name...

Exciting news!  I got my first piece of mail addressed to my married name today.  Sure, I've received a few checks made out to my married name, but they are useless without this, I think.  It is a receipt from the Social Security Administration indicating that my card with my NEW name is on its way.  I am both happy and sad.  Happy because I am obviously excited for our new life together, yet sad because I feel as though I'm leaving a small piece of myself behind.  I chose not to hyphenate because that just becomes problematic after awhile, besides why would I want my name to be even longer?  I suppose he could've taken my name, but we're not that progressive.  We also tossed around the idea of combining our names into a new one, but that was just ridiculous.  I did consider switching my maiden name to my middle name, but I chose to keep my grandmother's name as my middle name as she passed only 3 months before our wedding.  So, now begins the process of changing my name everywhere else. Oh joy!  I suppose I should practice my new signature...that's gonna be weird to get used to after nearly 30 years of signing.  And the other bad thing...my new initials are B.O.  Bummer!!!

Hello Again

Hello, and welcome to my, OUR new blog. I know. I know. Why'd she start a new blog when she hasn't posted a new entry since October, or tweeted in 80 days for that matter? I'll tell you...we got so many compliments on our "wedsite" that it seems some people are truly interested in our goings-on. And if you're not, don't follow us! Since I am not the half with the web-design expertise I cannot update our actual website, but I can use blogs :) So, I'll just get my Mr. to linky-poo the blog to the website. Then I can update all by myself, like a big girl.
Stay tuned. In the coming weeks I plan to post wedding photos and details. And honeymoon photos, but not details *wink*. And probably some shout-outs to our wonderful family and friends...without them, we could not have pulled off the BEST WEDDING EVER!!!
